Now Available: 2018-19 Assessment Data, Star Ratings, and Updated School Report Cards

The Kentucky Department of Education has released school and district assessment and accountability data from the 2018-19 school year, as well as assigned an Overall Rating of one to five stars, based on combined school-level measures and indicators. The purpose is to create a system to drive individual school improvement, and initiate conversations on what is working well or needs improvement. The Kentucky Department of Education cautions against viewing the star ratings as a summative assessment or judgement and notes that the ratings do not reflect the entirety of a complex education system.

The system utilizes six accountability indicators from spring 2019 student assessments:

  • Reading and math proficiency

  • Proficiency in social studies, science and writing

  • Student Growth

  • Transition Readiness (High School Only)

  • Graduation Rate (High School Only)
