Per Governor Beshear’s Executive Order dated November 18, 2020, Bowling Green Independent Schools will transition to non-traditional instruction for all students, preschool-12th grade, beginning Monday, November 30th, and continue through December 18, 2020. Virtual Academy courses will continue as scheduled. The district plans to return to a hybrid, Purple and Gold schedule beginning the week of January 4, 2021.
The first semester grading period will be extended through January 15, 2021. Families wishing to change their enrollment format from virtual to in-person, or from in-person to virtual will be given that opportunity in January. With no in-person options available for students through December 18, the transition of enrollment and changes to teacher rosters will not occur in December. All placement changes will go into effect February 1, 2021.
There will be no winter sports games for Bowling Green Junior High or Bowling Green High School until after January 4th. Individual workouts will be permitted, however all team practices have been cancelled through December 13, 2020.

Monday - Friday, November 30 - December 18, 2020
BGISD employees will report to schools to work from their classrooms and offices. Healthy at School guidance remains in effect including temperature checks upon entry, masks required, and social distancing mandatory. School Offices and Family Resource and Youth Services Centers will be available by phone or by email. Finally, the district’s transportation staff will be assigned to school sites to assist with needs as determined by school principals.
Individual lunch meals will be available at all schools and the Bowling Green Learning Center (503 Old Morgantown Road), Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Weekly meals will be available at all schools and the Bowling Green Learning Center on Fridays, December 4th, December 11th, and December 18, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Meals are for any child ages 18 or younger. Children are not required to be present. Signs will direct families to the appropriate doors for meal pickup.
SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICES:
BGISD will continue to offer School Health Services to students and employees through Graves Gilbert Clinic, including Telehealth visits with School Health Services Coordinator Michelle McPherson, BSN, RN, and Nurse Practitioner Ashley Allen, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC. Curbside testing for flu, strep throat, and COVID-19 will be available at Bowling Green High School. For appointments, call the Clinic directly at (270) 418-2714.
STUDENT AND FAMILY COUNSELING:
Students or employees needing to speak with a Student and Family Counselor may schedule a Telehealth appointment with either Tanner Steelman, LCSW, or Amy Carter, CSW by calling (270) 599-1610. To refer an individual for a non-emergency, this referral form may also be used.
Additional Student Services:
The BGISD Technology Department recently purchased wireless access points to be installed on school buildings for exterior/outside access to the district’s wireless network. Installation will begin on Monday, November 30th. The district will notify families after this project is complete, with details on the location of each school’s access points.
Although the district will transition to hybrid learning, all student and employee cases of COVID-19 and quarantines due to exposure should continue to be reported to schools.
