A New BGHS is Scheduled for Completion by August 2023

Exterior Phase 2

The Bowling Green Board of Education approved schematic drawings and plans to finance Phase Two of Bowling Green High School on September 9, 2019.

The district began work on Phase One in May of 2018, with completion scheduled for June 2020.

Phase One includes approximately 90,000 square feet and 80% of total classroom space for the new high school, as well as a cafeteria.

The designs and financing plans approved September 2019 have Phase Two to begin immediately after the completion of Phase One. The current pool will be removed at the beginning of the project, however Phase 2A includes the addition of a natatorium, as well as a theatre with seating for 700. Phase 2B is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2021 with the demolition of the existing BGHS, and the addition of a new Commons, Library Media Center, Medical Clinic, additional classroom space, and office spaces. Phase 2B, the complete new BGHS is scheduled for completion by the fall of 2023.

The priorities of overall construction of a new Bowling Green High School include:

  • Removing circular walls,

  • Adding natural light to all classrooms,

  • Increasing energy efficiency,

  • Displaying and honoring the school’s traditions and history,

  • Improving traffic flow around the school,

  • and providing a cutting-edge learning environment for future generations.
