The Bowling Green City School District welcomes Shaunna Cornwell, CPA to serve as the next Director of Finance. She will officially begin at the District Office on November 16, 2020, and will work alongside the current director Jeff Herron until his retirement on December 31, 2020.
Cornwell has served as the Director of Finance for the City of Franklin since 2013, overseeing financial reporting, taxes and fees, budgeting, financial analysis, and daily operations for the City and its municipally owned utility company, Franklin Municipal Utilities. She also has experience in school finance, previously working for the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative, and the Warren County Public School District as an internal auditor and financial analyst.
Superintendent Gary Fields introduced Cornwell to the Board of Education at the monthly meeting on November 9, 2020. He says, “We are so excited to welcome Shaunna to our Purples family. She brings a wealth of experience as a leader in school and government finance while at the same time appreciating our vision to do all we can to serve the children in our community.”
Cornwell says, “I am thrilled to be returning to my roots. I believe our education system is fundamental to the very core of our communities and I can’t wait to be a part, albeit a small part, of that system. I get to do work that I enjoy immensely while working in an environment that loves and cares for its students. Certainly seems like a win/win to me!”
Shaunna is married to Michael Cornwell, and they have two children Dylan (10), and Harper (8). They are also the family of Bowling Green Fire Department’s ATF accelerant detection canine, Millie (4).
