I would like to take this time to tell you a little about myself. I
was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, home of the Notre Dame Fighting
Irish. My father was a professor at the University of Notre Dame for 42 years.
I attended WKU and played volleyball for the Lady Toppers. WKU is
where I met my husband Doug. We have been married for twenty eight years, and
have two children Renee and Maggie. Doug also served our country for 27 years in the Army National Guard.
After graduating from WKU, I taught middle school language arts and
literature at St. Joseph School for six years. I also completed my Master's
Degree while teaching at St. Joe. Next, I took a position at Potter Gray
teaching sixth grade language arts. After teaching one year at Potter Gray, I moved to BGJHS. I have been teaching at BGJHS for nineteen years. While
being at the junior high, I have taught a mix of sixth, seventh, and eighth
grade language arts. I am also a Nationally Certified Teacher. This is my twenty eighth year teaching.
Seven years ago, I created the BGJHS Journalism Department. I currently teach:
Photo Journalism 6th Grade
Broadcast Journalism 6th Grade
Journalism A 7th Grade
Journalism B 7th Grade
Online and Print Newspaper 8th Grade
Broadcast Journalism (BGJHS STudent News) 8th Grade

Mission For The Class
This year I would like each class period to be an individual community of readres, writers, reporters, and photographers where students can express themselves about the world we live. I would like students to consider me their coach. By the end of this year, students will be proud of their accomplishments and growth in the art of language and journalism.
