Bowling Green Independent Superintendent Gary Fields has announced Sheryl Anderson as the next principal of T. C. Cherry Elementary. She was introduced to students and staff during morning assembly at the school on Friday, March 22, 2024. She will officially begin on July 1, 2024.

Ms. Anderson brings a wealth of experience and passion for education to BGISD. She previously worked in Barren County Schools as an instructional assistant, teacher, and interventionist before moving to Bowling Green. Since 2020 she has served as a virtual teacher for kindergarten and first grade students, and most recently, as assistant principal of Jody Richards Elementary.

Anderson says, “One of the most rewarding aspects of being an elementary school principal is witnessing the growth and development of both students and staff members. Seeing students flourish academically, socially, and emotionally is incredibly rewarding.  Moreover, being able to support and guide teachers and staff as they excel in their roles while fostering a positive learning environment adds a profound layer of joy and excitement.”

Superintendent Fields says, “Throughout the application and interview process, Ms. Anderson demonstrated to me and members of the SBDM Council that she will be a great leader for T. C. Cherry. She is committed to building relationships and creating a positive learning environment for all students, staff, and families.”

Anderson says, “I am excited for the opportunity to lead T. C. Cherry Elementary as Principal. I look forward to working alongside a talented team of educators, and building upon the school’s achievements. Together we will create the best possible educational experience for our students.”

Sheryl Anderson is a graduate of Barren County High School and Western Kentucky University. She has earned teacher and principal certifications, as well as endorsements for teacher leader and as an elementary math specialist.

Ms. Anderson lives in Bowling Green with her husband, Robert. They have two daughters, Afton Anderson and Kelsey Stallings (Greg), four grandchildren: Creek Anderson, Johnny Branham, Gracie Smith, and Dolly Kate Stallings and three step-grandchildren: Hunter, Jasper, and Briley Stallings.
