7th Grade Social Studies

Below are the Mastery Learning Targets, or priorities for all students to be successful when they advance to 8th Grade Social Studies. Mastery (M) of these skills means the student has met the grade-level standard and is independently performing on grade level. Mastery takes time to develop and may take the full school year.

  • Generates interesting questions to support thought provoking questions related to growth and expansion of civilization. 

  • Uses multiple sources to develop claims to answer a variety of questions.

  • Analyzes evidence from multiple sources to support a claim and counterclaim. 

  • Develops explanations, reasonings, and correct order of events pertaining to relevant information as well as recognizing strengths and weaknesses of explanations.

  • Compares political institutions and the impacts on people between 600-1600.

  • Describes the non-democratic governments between 600-1600.

  • Explains how cultures can positively and negatively impact each other. 

  • Explains the impact of expanded empires between 600-1600.
