Winter Weather Communication

BGISD understands the difficulties it causes families when schools are delayed opening or closed, so we make every effort to be in school on schedule, but if necessary, make a decision before 5:45 a.m., prior to buses running.

When the decision is made to close school due to weather, BGISD will most often utilize Non-Traditional Instruction days or NTI days. On these days, the expectation is that teachers communicate with students and families about assignments for the day, either through prepared packets or online learning. The completion of student assignments fulfills the student attendance requirement for the day.


Communication about schedule changes or cancellations will come from the district: text message, email, BGISD app notification, and posted on the website and social media.
