Cherry Elementary, where she has been part of the school's leadership and student support framework. Prior work experience includes serving as a Special Education teacher in both Hardin County and Warren County Schools.

Proffitt possesses knowledge in IDEA compliance and ARC facilitation, as well as behavior intervention planning which ensures that the district’s youngest learners receive necessary resources and individualized support from the very beginning of their academic careers. She is certified in Special Education, School Counseling, and Principal Leadership.

"Afton Proffitt has demonstrated the ability to create inclusive, supportive environments where every child can thrive," said Superintendent Gary Fields. "Her special education and counseling experience makes her the ideal leader to guide our preschool program as we continue to build a strong foundation for our youngest Purples."

In her new role, which officially begins July 1, 2026, Proffitt will oversee daily operations, curriculum implementation, and family engagement initiatives for the Itty Bitty Purples to ensure a seamless transition for students as they begin their journey within the Bowling Green Independent School District.
