National Board Certification is a voluntary assessment program designed to recognize and reward great teachers—and make them better. Certification is achieved through a performance-based assessment that typically takes one to three years to complete.
Congratulations, Ms. Brown, NBCT!
Excellence Is Worth The Effort

Congratulations to Mr. Lucas Allen and the BGJHS Percussion Ensemble for a wonderful performance at the 2026 KMEA Conference last week!
KMEA Performance Highlights

For the past few weeks, students and families have been reading Patrick Skene Catling’s book, “The Chocolate Touch,” where everything John Midas touches turns into CHOCOLATE.
Celebrating the theme, the library has transformed into a candy chop, students are competing with daily trivia questions, and today, students were challenged to find 1,000 gold coins hidden throughout the building. The primary and intermediate classes that collect the most coins will see their collection transformed into chocolate!
Thanks to Ms. Hannah Ogden, Library Media Specialist for leading this project, and to the McNeill PTO and Stuff the Bus Foundation of SOKY for their generous support to make this fun project possible.

Boys to Men Alum and BGHS Student Government President Cayden Dunn was the keynote speaker at the ceremony.
Thanks to all who made this event special: teachers, mentors, families, and community supporters.

Cow eye dissection at McNeill Elementary!

Students built custom heat shields with available materials to protect "egg-stronauts" from intense heat. Then they put their knowledge to the test, tracking temperature changes for their unit final. Mastering heat transfer!

Thanks to BGISD’s Digital Learning Coach Megan Marcum and Director of Technology Will King for their help with this activity.

The BGHS Band, Choir, and Orchestra performed for their largest audiences of the year with students in grades 4-8 attending concerts today.
BGISD students may begin playing instruments and singing in choir as 4th graders. Attending the annual school-day concert gives the younger Purples a chance to see and hear opportunities in their near future!
More than 250 BGHS students participate in the Performing Arts.
Thanks to teachers and staff in all schools, and a special thanks to the Transportation Department for making this day possible!

Thanks to Dr. Nancy Hulan and the WKU Literacy Ambassadors!

Tonight’s performance is open to the public with $5 tickets sold at the door.

Balloons Over Parker-Bennett Curry!
Based on the book “Balloons over Broadway” by Melissa Sweet, which tells the story of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, PBC kindergarten students had their own version of a balloon parade through the school halls.

Itty Bitty Purples had very special visitors this week! 💜
Today at Parker-Bennett-Curry, BGHS student-athletes stopped by preschool classrooms to play, learn, and to model kindness and teamwork.
Go Purples!
