From advanced courses and career pathways to the arts and student life, the Class of 2030 visited Bowling Green High School today for the My Options Expo. BGHS Student Ambassadors led groups through a 15-station rotation to explore the many different opportunities offered on campus.
The Expo included several hands-on activities around the building, including the Medical Arts Academy with phlebotomy, nursing, and EMT, as well as the HVAC and Industrial Maintenance Labs. Students also learned about paid internships with BGISD in areas such as Information Technology and Early Childhood Education.
Families of 8th grade students are invited to the BGHS Performing Arts Center tonight at 6:00 pm to meet teachers and learn more!

It’s quiet in the American Sign Language Enrichment class at BGJHS, but the communication never stops! 🤟 Students are working to learn this new language as Ms. Lee Flener teaches them to sign.

Thanks to M&L Electrical and Junior Achievement for the partnership and investment in our students.

Nate Stein, a 2020 alumnus of Bowling Green Junior High and the Pitch Purples, is now a Tenor II and Music Director for the world’s oldest underclassmen a cappella group, The Yale Spizzwinks (?). The ‘Winks are in concert tonight at The Capitol as part of their spring tour, and hometown visit for Nate.
This morning, they performed a few selections for the BGJHS Mixed Choir.

Local authors, Jenson and Darla Day, and Illustrator Chad Day visited primary students at Parker-Bennett-Curry this morning. They read their book, “Charlie and the Cheerful Hearts,” and encouraged students to spread cheer to others! The Day family also shared that while Jenson has cerebral palsy that limits his ability to move and talk, his creativity, imagination, and love for others is not limited. Jenson and his family have two published books and are working on a third.
When the students had the opportunity to ask questions, the first question asked: “Can I give you a hug?”

She spoke to students about her inspirations for writing; using imagination, research, and also several re-writes throughout the process.
Thanks to the Warren County Public Library for bringing another fabulous author to our schools!

New York Times bestselling author and illustrator Jarrett J. Krosoczka visited Dishman McGinnis and McNeill Elementary Schools today! His books include the graphic novel series, Lunch Lady, the Platypus Police Squad series, Punk Farm, and he also contributed to the Star Wars: Jedi Academy series.
At both schools, he shared his inspirations for writing and creating art through his life, such as the first book he wrote as a third grader. He talked to students about continuing to learn throughout life and not giving up. The time ended with questions from students and Krosoczka drawing a personalized “Lunch Lady” for each school.
A big THANKS to the Warren County Public Library for this great opportunity!
